We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support our corporate accounting team. The Jr. Accountant will be responsible for performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks including receiving, processing & verifying invoices, processing payments, assisting in lender draw requests, process tenant security deposit move outs, and bank reconciliations. This position will support Senior Accountants and the Controller with the month end close process and provide supporting documents for Audit and Tax preparation.Here is what you will be doing:
  • Review portfolio invoices for appropriate documentation and evidence of proper approval (in accounting and property management software).
  • Enter invoices for payment with proper general ledger coding.
  • Process authorized invoice payments while adhering to established protocols.
  • Process tenant security deposit move outs according to company policies and procedures.
  • Review and post one-time rental adjustments related to accounts receivable.
  • Support Senior Accountants with preparation of month-end and year-end close process.
  • Prepare documentation for loan draws and reserve disbursements.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
  • Setup new vendors, maintain vendor databases and assist in annual 1099 preparation.
  • Collect and input all W9's from vendors; collect and input all insurance certs for vendors.
  • Prepare Monthly Bank Reconciliation
  • Assist Senior Accountants and Controller with compilation of supporting documents for year-end Audit and Tax preparation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Here is what you’ll have:
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to use the following software programs and/or computer skills to successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Internet Explorer).
  • Must be proficient at Microsoft Excel (i.e. Vlookups, pivot tables, SUM IF, etc.) and have knowledge of the commercial banking process and protocols. Specialty software includes Previous knowledge of Property Management Software (i.e. RealPage) is a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
